About
Hi, I'm Stephanie.
I recently returned to the United States after four years living and working in Tokyo. I moved there as the first inbound international assignee at Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems and later became the company’s first Chief Communications Officer (CCO).
I spent those years inside a traditional Japanese headquarters during a period of significant transformation. The company was accelerating its globalization strategy, managing major M&A activity, and navigating a historic leadership transition with the appointment of its first non-Japanese CEO.
Building a global communications function in that environment shaped how I think about leadership, trust and decision-making in multinational organizations. I learned quickly that change cannot simply be announced. Rather, people have to understand it, trust it and see themselves in it.
To me, communications is about being involved early, understanding the business realities behind decisions and helping leaders navigate moments where clarity, alignment and trust matter most.
Living and working across cultures changed the way I lead. It made me more patient, more observant and more aware of the human side of global business. Today, I’m back in the United States and continue to work at the intersection of leadership, reputation and global strategy.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me running, traveling or searching for a great restaurant. I’m happy to be home, though I definitely returned with a broader perspective... and a well-used passport.
