Hi, I'm Stephanie Roberts
A global communications leader, rare in perspective and place — an American woman on assignment in Japan

About Me

As Head of Global Communications for Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems, I lead a team that brings our company’s vision to life — showcasing the innovation, dedication and passion behind what we do.
What sets my journey apart is my international experience. For nearly three years, I’ve been based in Tokyo as the first expat sent to our headquarters — a rare and rewarding opportunity for an American woman.
Navigating a different culture has shaped how I lead, adapt and communicate. I also collaborate with teams across the Americas, China, Southeast Asia, EMEA and Australia, giving me a global perspective.
Two things drive my career: the power of storytelling — celebrating employee achievements, sharing our company’s vision and highlighting the impact of our work — and my love of exploring different cultures. I’ve visited more than 30 countries, constantly seeking to learn and embrace new perspectives.
I hold a Master of Science in Communications from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from DePaul University.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me traveling, running, hiking or discovering new restaurants.
I enjoy connecting with new people, so please find me on LinkedIn where I often share my perspective on communications and being an expat with more than 12,000 followers.
