In June 2024, Stephanie Roberts spoke to a cohort of more than 40 MBA students from California State University Fullerton's College of Business and Economics. These students visited Tokyo to explore Japanese business and culture in depth.
During their international study tour, the students spent one to two weeks learning, studying, eating, and traveling together. They also had the opportunity to meet with executives from various companies, including Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems.
Roberts presented to the students about her experiences as an expat, working in Japan, and the workplace and cultural differences between the U.S. and Japan. This session provided a valuable opportunity for the students to use their global networking skills and observe firsthand the nuances of Japanese business culture.
Experiencing Japan's deeply ingrained cultural practices in a business context is something the students would not have fully grasped as typical tourists. This unique experience allowed them to see how cultural differences shape business operations and interactions in Japan.
